Government has announced its plans to develop a safari harbour at “Dhiyaneru Two” Lagoon, located a few kilometers away from Malè.
This plan was announced last night at the Gala Event of Maldives Boating Awards 2019, by Tourism Minister Ali Waheed.
Minister Ali Waheed said that government took the decision to build a safari harbour at that lagoon, as the initially proposed lagoon was given away to a private entity. He said that the government took the decision to change the location to “Dhiyaneru Two” Lagoon, in order to avoid the hassle of a court case regarding the issue which could take a while.
Minister Ali Waheed said that the project is scheduled to commence sometime in the next year. He highlighted the importance of a harbour where safari’s could stay for overnight.
Dhiyaneru Two Lagoon is located 8 kilometers away from the capital Malè City.
