BTS has announced that the band is coming back with a brand new single ‘Butter’, this Friday.
On 26th of April, the Korean pop sensation BTS surprised their fans with an hour long countdown on their YouTube channel, which was a block of butter that melted to reveal their new single ‘Butter’ releasing on the 21st May of 2021. Upon the release the countdown the hashtag #Butter garnered more than 1 million tweets in a span of 2 hours on twitter. Fans of the band hurried to speculate on how BTS will reveal more news of the single. Since then BigHit Music has released the promotion schedule for ‘Butter’. In line with the schedule, the band has released concept clips, teaser photos and is set to release the music video teaser tonight at 8pm Maldives Time.
According to a press release by their label, ‘Butter’ is quoted to be a "dance pop track brimming with BTS' smooth and charismatic charm." This song will be the second English track released by the band following it’s 2020 hit-song ‘Dynamite’ which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was nominated for a Grammy. Moreover, Korean Broadcasting Station (KBS) shared a review revealing the credentials of 'Butter’ where BTS’s leader RM has been credited as a writer and a composer.
With the initial reveal of the song, showing a bright-yellow butter-heart, fans speculated ‘Butter’ to be a summer song with happy-feel-good vibes. However upon the release of concept clips and the 60 second instrumental released on each clip, fans have begun theorising that the theme of the song may be closely related to an ‘after party’ concept. Regardless of the theme surrounding the single, fact is that the BTS Army is more than ready for the taste of ‘Butter' this weekend and at the Billboard Music Award show where the song will be performed for the first time. In addition to performing their new summer song, the band is also nominated for Top Song Sales Artist, Top Social Artist, Top Selling Song and Top Dup/Group.
