The Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to the Maldives, His Excellency Zhang Lizhong has revealed that Chinese companies working in the Maldives has decided to help in the construction of new facilities.
He revealed this today through his twitter account.
Ambassador Zhang said that heading the call of the Maldives Government, China State Construction Company has decides to send over 100 workers, along with equipments and materials, to build temporary quarantine facilities which can house up to 800 person. He described this project as a “race against time”.
China State Construction Company has recently finished the work of 7000 social housing units in Hulhumalè Phase 2, under the “Hiya” Project.
Moreover, he revealed that Beijing Urban Construction Group has also decided to arrange a task force of 40 workers to help renovate a two-story building which will be converted into a temporary quarantine facility. This facility is planned to have a capacity of 327 beds.
With the COVID-19 pandemic spreading faster than ever, Chinese Government has stepped up to help countries which are having rapid increase in the number of cases. This includes both technical and material assistance.
