Voice.mv has launched its Bengali Edition, the first such by any media outlet of the Maldives.
The purpose of our Bengali Edition is to provide key information regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic and measures taken by the government to deal with other relevant issues.
Shafraz Ahmed Hussain, Chief Editor of Voice said that this edition will bring the latest information regarding the pandemic to Bangladeshis who live in the Maldives. Official statistics show that Bangladeshis constitute the largest group of migrant workers currently residing in the Maldives.
Shafraz noted that this is the first time a Maldivian Media outlet will be covering news in a language other than Dhivehi and English. All the news published on this edition are translations done by Bangladeshis living in the Maldives, and the content of the translations will be verified through relevant authorities.
On behalf of the whole team of Voice, we would like to express our profound gratitude to Health Protection Agency and Ministry of Home Affairs for their help in launching this edition. With the launch of Voice Bengali, Voice has become the first media in the Maldives to cover news in three languages.
On this note, we would also like to extend our sincere gratitude towards our other local and international readers for their support towards other editions of Voice. It is through the support of our readers that we are able to move forward with such initiatives. We hope to receive the same amount of love and support for Voice Bengali Edition from our readers, as they have given to other editions.
