263 Maldivians in Sri Lanka has been repatriated back to the country aboard a special flight of Srilankan Airlines.
The passengers left Sri Lanka this morning via Bandaranaike International Airport. The Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Omar Abdul Razzak and staff of the High Commission were at the airport to bid farewell to the passengers and facilitate their departure.
Passengers onboard this flight included individuals seeking medical treatment in Sri Lanka through Aasandha Scheme, families of children with special needs, tourists stuck in Sri Lanka due to various reasons, individuals relying on financial assistance and various others as well.
It is notable that approximately 153 passengers aboard this flight would be subjected to home quarantine as per their own request. They would be home quarantined at 13 different atolls.
Maldives National Defence Force will be arranging the transportation of those who wish to be home quarantined in atolls.
